Somewhere I have more photos of our TA but can't seem to
find them for now. This was a really great car, it was a real
runner. I did some minor work to it, like a new computer chip and
exhaust work which really paid off. It had a great sound as well.
Unfortunately, JoLeen couldn't drive it without getting a ticket
so we had to sell it. The local cops were really out to get her.

Car #94
1986 Corvette "Indy Pace Car" Convertible

This particular 1986 "Indy Pace Car" Corvette was the Corvette that was raffled off at
Indy on the day of the race in 1986. The winner couldn't come up with the approximate
$10,000 that was due in Gift Taxes and therefore had to sell the car. The second owner,
a man from Washington drove it "limitedly" for many years and then sold it to a collector
in Scottsdale that I purchased the car from. At the time it only had 13,000 miles on it
and was completely factor stock and had never been raced.

When I purchased the Corvette in 1998 I began some extensive performance modifications.
Raising the horse power output from 235 h.p. to around 400 h.p. to the rear wheels. JoLeen and
I both raced this car to many victories both on the drag strip as well as several autocross
championships for both of us. The cars best time on the 1/4 mile was 11.98 e.t.@114 m.p.h. Not bad
for a car that was driven daily by me to the post office and grocery store. It was a fine long distance
touring car, as well, and we enjoyed it on numerous rally's. Not to mention that it took it's fare share
of trophies at car shows as well, including 2nd place in the World of Wheels Auto Show in Phoenix.

Some of the modifications were: custom aluminum heads, Manley valves
and springs, Edelbrock valve train bar, custom ground CRANE roller cam and roller
lifters, Accel ignition, aluminum water pump, trany oil cooler, oversized aluminum radiator,
lower Richmond rear end gears, Koni shocks, braided brake lines, HD front and rear sway bars,
drag tires and (2) sets of (4) Kumo sticky autocross tires mounted on extra wide aluminum wheel,
custom roll bar, and lowered 2" inches all around.
The trick to horsepower is AIR, since all a motor really is, is an air pump . I simply improved
the amount of AIR coming IN and going OUT. A good set of warmed over aluminum heads
works wonders to accomplish this. I used a custom ordered set of Air Flow Research heads
that I provided the specs for. Then I topped it all off by boring, "extrude honing" and port
matching the intake runners and plenum matted to a enlarged throttle body which was fed by a forced
ram air induction system providing cold incoming air through the front license plate opening.
The headers were stock but were port-matched to the heads, flowing into an open 3" exhaust
system with HP catalytic converter and enlarged crossover pipe. All flowing through a
custom set of Flow Master mufflers and had made for the car. It "RUMBLED" and shook the
ground and set off ever car alarm it went by. Ha!
I must admit that JoLeen turned the fastest times at the drag strip in our "Yellow Jacket". She even
cut better Christmas tree lights at Firebird and other drags strips than I, she cut several perfect 5.0
lights. It looked stock but was a "surprise" for many! A real fun car!

This was JoLeen's daily driver for work.

This too was a Very Rare Corvette being an "Indy Pace Car" Corvette and it took
us awhile to even find it. A real beauty with flawless paint and it too was a trophy
winner on several occasions.
