Reverence, Reflection, Respect...

Karl Sup The Eastland Memorial Society was founded in September 1998 by Mary Bonevelle and Karl Sup. Mary is an avid Eastland historian with a strong will to build and further public awareness and recognition. Karl is the grandson of two Eastland passengers, Herman Krause and Elsa Neumann, who both endured the disaster, met years later and married in 1921. And so with a solid background of historical reverence, personal reflection and ancestral respect, the Society was born.

Our Mission Statement:
"The purpose of the Eastland Memorial Society shall be to provide information and support for descendants of Eastland disaster victims, survivors and others, to promote historical knowledge and remembrance of the disaster, and to plan and facilitate activities and projects which contribute to the commemoration of the disaster."
