Feeding the pigeons in the city square seemed to be a
Continental sport in Europe when I was there. Mom wasn't paying any attention to her
daughter, who stretched to great lengths to get some popcorn for the birds. Barcelona,

The Pigeon Capitol of Europe HAS to be Venice, Italy. San
Marcos Square has been portrayed in several movies as having an abundance of the birds. I
saw a photo in a restaurant there that had the pigeons spelling out 'Pepsi Cola' in the
square. The Pepsi Company had spread seeds in the shape of their company name and the
birds were taking full advantage of the situation. Venice, Italy, 1972. (Asahi Pentax

When you visit Naples, you'll want to take the tour to Mount
Vesuvius, the Italian Wine Country and Pompeii, the Roman city that was destroyed and
buried under tens of feet of volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D.
Along the way, right after the lunch stop, you'll visit a shop where cameos like these are
hand-carved from sea shells as you watch. Many of these have price tags that equate to
about $18 US. Now they'd cost about $80. Naples, Italy, 1973. (Asahi Pentax Spotmatic II,

A side street, Pompeii, Italy, 1973. The streets were

One evening, while walking around Cannes, France, I came upon
a pharmacy that had an interesting display in the window. The beauty aid they were selling
is called Dermabust. I guess it was a cream that was supposed to be massaged into the
indicated area. The box says 'For the beauty of your bust'. 1973. (Asahi Pentax Spotmatic
