Leona Thompson Bennett, 90
Leona Thompson Bennett, 90, of Buffalo, died April 7, 2005, at Sunrise Man or Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
She was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Buffalo, where she serv ed as a Sunday school teacher, clerk and treasurer for many years. She w as also a former school teacher and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ernest Bennett; a son, Tom my Bennett; three grandchildren, Deborah Hill, Scott Price and David Wesl ey Poteet; her parents, Thomas J. and Lizzie Salsman Thompson; two sister s, Beatrice Smith and Venita Tucker; and a brother, Robert Thompson.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Frances Poteet and Edith B. (Jod y) Price, both of Hodgenville; a daughter-in-law, Melba Bennett of Buffal o; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildr en; one great-great-grandchild; and five step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held April 10, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Tabor Baptist Chu rch with the Rev. Roger Pepper officiating. Burial will follow in the chur ch cemetery.
Visitation will begin April 9, after 10 a.m. at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Ho me in Hodgenville.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter, Elliott Skaggs of Greenvill e, Ky., and Wilson Skaggs and Judy Wurmser, both of Campbellsville; sev en grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildre n; one sister-in-law, Mildred Sanders; and three nephews and two nieces.
Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by one brot her, Durham Sanders.
Funeral was Thursday, Jan. 22 at the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel wi th burial in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Earl Pike officiate d.
Pallbearers were Mike Skaggs, Billy Skaggs, Ronnie Skaggs, Anthony Skag gs and Charlie Skaggs, Joey Skaggs.

from the Pope for marrying Peter Legh 4 of Pope Paul II. This first
contract was dissolved, and she married Piers Warburton, son of Sir
Geoffrey Warburton, who died 1448. Piers Warburton in 1436 had
married Elizabeth Mainwaring, and this contract was dissolved, and
she was living 33 years after. He married Ellen Savage in 1469, by

14, 1495, but in 1487 Piers Warburton, his father, had contracted for his

Elizabeth, 1590, the Court of the King's Bench were agreed that these
names were all one name). Johanna Stanley was the daughter of Sir
William Stanley, of Holt, and he was the son of Thomas Stanley and

Mr. Alvin Scott, son of the late Mr. Powell Scott and Mrs. Louisa Gaddie S cott was born 30 Oct 1904 in Taylor County, Kentucky,
and departed this life at 8 pm Thurs. 22 Mar 1984 at the Green Hill Man or in Greensburg, Kentucky. He was 79 years, 4 months
and 22 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and w as a member of the Aetna Grove Church at the time of his
death. He united in marriage to Miss Flossie Vaughn who preceded him in de ath in 1928. He later wed Miss Maude Bradshaw in
1945 who survives. Mr. Scott is also survived by several nieces and nephe ws and host of other relatives and friends. The remains
were at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home where funeral services were c onducted at 1 pm Sat. 25 Mar 1984 with burial in the
Aetna Grove Cem. Rev. Otis Clell Skaggs and Randy Smith officiated. Pallbe arers were Dowen Quisenberry, Chess Hall, Hubert

Emmett Scott, 90, a retired farmer of Poplar Grove Rd., in Buffalo, s on of the late James Hardin Scott and Sarah Jane Poteet Scott, was bo rn in Green Co., 22 Apr 1898. He died at 6:16 am Sat. 13 Aug 1988 in Campb ellsville after an illness. He was a member of the Poplar Grove United Met hodist Church. He united in marriage to Mattie Warren on 4 Feb 1920. She p receded him in death 3 May 1985. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Jam es Ray Scott on 3 Set 1967, and Emmett Brooks Scott Jr. on 2 Oct 194 2. He is survived by 7 daughters, Etha Mae Skaggs, Hodgenville, Dorothy Je an Sutter, Bloomington, Ill., Mary Caulk, Campbellsville, Mattie Long, Buf falo, Essie Allen, Fisherville, Ky., and Juanita Pike and Betty Skaggs, bo th of Louisville; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Per die Scott, Bartonville, Ill; several other relatives and many friends. Mattie Scott, 84, of Route 1, Buffalo, daughter of the late Will Henry War ren and Mary Allen Warren, died at 2:50 p.m., Friday, May 3, 1985 at her h ome. She was a member of the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church. She uni ted in marriage to Emmett Scott Sr. February 4, 1920. To this union sev en daughters and two sons were born: James Ray Scott preceded his moth er in death Sept. 3, 1967 and Emmett Brooks Scott Jr. preceded his moth er in death Oct. 2, 1942. Surviving are: Etha Mae Skaggs of Hodgenville; D orothy Jean Sutter of Bloomington, Illinois; Mary Caulk of Campbellsvill e, Star Route; Mattie Long of Route 1, Buffalo; Essie Allen of Fishervill e; Juanita Pike and Betty Skaggs both of Louisville.
